open garminxt, -> goto tools -> settings ->Audio ->set the volume to 100%, voice to ebglish (or what ever is avialable) & voice prompt to enabled. Attention tone can remain disabled. Check these setting & the voice should work. Normally the voice only works when you are doing a route to some destination.

i have GarminXT 5.00.20w registered version foor my sonyerricson Xperia X1(WM6.1 Pro) . i think they do not hav pakistan maps. by anychance i u could hav pak maps fpr GarminXT 5.00.20w. wud highly appreciate

The Pakistan map hosted here will work with it, juust check the tutorials.
